Our beliefs are formed from an early age within our families and our community environments, and they are usually unconscious for many years until we learn to explore them.
Adolescence is a time for that exploration to begin, and adulthood can give us the independence we need to change our beliefs – or just to feel the freedom to change them.
Where does this freedom come from? It comes from the space in-between us and our beliefs – because we hold and carry our beliefs, and can choose (whether with ease or difficulty) to let them go.
What are some beliefs that you hold about:
• Yourself
• Your capabilities
• Your money
Perhaps you believe that money is power, or that money is dangerous, or that money is unimportant, or that it is a corrupting force, or that it is elusive for you.
Each of these beliefs may be ideas that you’ve stored internally for many years based upon the stories told by others, the examples of experiences that you’ve witnessed others have with money, or your own experiences growing up.
Take a few minutes to jot down some of these beliefs, and then let’s dive into your Money Beliefs even further.
• Where did this Money Belief come from?
• Have you carried it consciously, or unconsciously?
• Does it serve you, or hinder you?
Let’s take a further look at a Money Belief that you may have held onto unconsciously and that may be hindering you. Are you ready to set it aside? To acknowledge it in your Money Story of your past, but to no longer allow it to burden your future?
Just like your physical belongings, you can choose which beliefs to re-pack and carry with you internally – and which to pack away and store as part of your past.
How will unpacking your Money Beliefs change your Money Future?
